Popular Ethiopian activist arrested.

Oromo media on Tuesday 1st July 2020 announced that federal police had arrested Jawar Mohammed on Tuesday.

The activist was arrested along side 33 more including Bekele Gerba , one of the Senior official in oromia federal party. OMN further reported that OMN studio in Adis Ababa was shut down by the government.

More death

The death of popular musician, Hachalu Hundessa that triggered blast and protest in capital city and across the oromia region has lead to death of at least 10 people while 80 more suffered injuries during the protest.

Oromia regional state president, Shimele Abdissa, said on Tuesday that the killing of Hachalu was an orchestrated one and was intended to bring chaos in the country.

Blame games

He pointed fingers to Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) leaders and other political forces who he said were hired mercenaries.

Speaking with breaking voices out of grief, Shimeles also said that political entities that are combining peaceful and armed struggle are involved in the campaign to reverse the reform measures in the country.

Lencho Bati, a prominent Oromo activist, and politician who is said to work as an adviser to Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s government said the killing TPLF and Egypt are likely to be behind the killing.

“But it was executed through the agency of mercenaries hired from the Oromo community.” He added.

Federal state media own reported that oromian regional police and federal police clashed in Adis Ababa but no casualties reported.

Evil act

The Ethiopian prime mister called the killing of Hachalu an evil act during his televised speech on federal state Television.

“This is an act committed and inspired by domestic and foreign enemies in order to destabilise our peace and to stop us from achieving things that we started,” he said.

Haacaaluu was shot dead at around 9:30 p.m on Monday, police said.

Some suspects had been detained, Addis Ababa city police commissioner Getu Argawhe told state media, giving no further details.
