The people must stand by the government in the pursuit of peace: Professor Beyenepetros

Beyene Petros said the people should play their part in the efforts to maintain peace in the country.

In the Tigray region, the TPLF attacked the Northern Command and acted in the same way in the Amhara region.

Ethiopian Social Democratic Party (EDP) Chairman, Prof. Beyene Petros, told ENA that he was saddened by the incident.

He said they have been involved in advising the federal government and the Tigray region to resolve their differences through dialogue.

“However, the central government’s approach to bringing things to a peaceful end has been rejected by power-hungry TPLF activists,” he said.

“The generosity and patience shown by the government to the TPLF leadership for the people of Tigray is admirable; But now he is taking action to stop the excesses. ”

“The people of Tigray are being forced to remain under the TPLF regime,” he added.

“It is unthinkable to lead a country,” he said.

He said Ethiopians everywhere have a responsibility to maintain peace in the country. He said the people should support the government in its efforts to maintain peace in the country.

He added that if the people are committed to maintaining peace in the area, no force can cause trouble.

He said the TPLF leadership is directly responsible for what is happening in the Tigray region. He said that the leader of the people should follow the example of the people and not point the way to destruction.

Kenya’s top prosecutor has revealed why the case linking MP Paul Ongili Babu Owino to the attempted murder of Felix Orinda aka DJ Evolve has slowed down.
A statement released on Tuesday evening cited the inability of the victim to record a statement following the shooting which affected his speech.
“According to the IO report, the victim is paralyzed and has a speech impediment making it very challenging to record his statement,” the ODPP said on Twitter.
Babu Owino was arraigned in court on January 20, 2020 and charged with attempted murder as well as behaving in a disorderly manner.
He denied the charge and was released on Ksh. 10million bond with two sureties of same amount and in the alternative, cash bail of Ksh.5 million.
“The ODPP had vehemently opposed his release on bail/bond,” the statement adds.

What seems to be culmination of Bromance of uhuruto

The slogan that looked more real had long fallen apart. Uhuruto was used by H.E Uhuru and deputy as their main campaign slogan in 2013 and 2017 election. Uhuruto chemistry seems to be not work as it was before the famous handshake between the president and his brother Raila odinga took place on 9th march 2018.

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen suggests the political relationship between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto has irretrievably broken down.

He spoke during a radio interview on Wednesday.

“The Uhuruto government ended long time ago,” he said.

Uhuruto was a campaign slogan coined to bring woo voters to elect the two leaders.

“What we have now is the kieleweke government. That of politicians who subscribe to the politics of the President and opposition leader Raila Odinga.

Murkomen, who was recently relieved of his position of the Majority Leader in the Senate, also says he expects Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru to overcome the impeachment motion, which is now under debate and vote in the Senate.

“I don’t expect Waiguru to be impeached at the Senate not because she is innocent or guilty. Just that she is an important component of the President and opposition leader Raila Odinga’s plans especially with the BBI. What we are now seeing at the Senate in the form of a committee investigating her conduct is more or less choreographed,” he charged.

Following a bromance period at the start of their reign, President Kenyatta and DP Ruto have increasingly drawn apart in recent times culminating in the removal of the DP’s top lieutenants in Parliament and Senate.

The DP appeared to retaliate by forming a breakaway to the Jubilee Party, named Jubilee Asili

The only national park in northeastern, kenya

Malka Mari National Park is a national park of Kenya, situated along the Dawa River on the Kenya-Ethiopia border. It is approximately 1,500 square kilometres in size. It is accessible via the Mandera Airport and roads. Malka Mari is a settlement in Kenya’s north Eastern Province.

Owed to its high concentration of wildlife, Malka Mari National Park was gazetted in the year 1989. The park is situated along the Kenya-Ethiopia border along the Dawa River. The river is in the extreme north eastern part of the country on the Mandera plateau. The climate in Malka Mari National Park is hot and dry, implying that the area scrubby and semi arid grassland is dominant. The Dawa River is surrounded by palms and riparian woodland which includes Qone, maqina, midan-otha to mention but a few.
The major attractions of the Malka Mari National Park include Malkamari fort, valleys and hills. These physical features provide beautiful and attractive scenery, a worthwhile experience for tourists and visitors.

There has been no permanent human settlements owing to the very arid and inhospitable climate of the region. The common inhabitants of the park are nomadic herders of the Gurreh community, no other community not even as hunters and gatherers, though they are few in number and mostly dispersed over a wide region. Karache Urane is located at the southern end of Malka Mari National Park. The Southern part on the other hand hosts the Awara Plains. The boundary of the park to the north terminates on the Kenya-Ethiopia border. Therefore the extreme ends of Malka Mari National Park can serve as major tourist attraction sites.
(Malka-Mari route-in)
The first step is to take the A2 route of the Northern Road to Isiolo and then proceed to Moyale found on the Ethiopian border. From Moyale, you take the D504 road on the eastern side through the Yabdus and Sara hills for around 160 kilometers before reaching Banissa, a semi-permanent village that hosts an airstrip.

Another alternative route that drivers may opt to take is that of Wajir. There are two roads leading to Wajir. The first one is along B9 from Mado Gashi while the second route is from Dadaab at the north eastern part of Garissa, and then proceeds along the B9 route to Tarba. A visitor should proceed further north for about 200 kilometers along d500 prior to reaching Banissa.

Owed to the long distance as well as the poor road conditions at the north eastern part of the country, visitors should consider another alternative means to reach Malka Mari National Park. The best option that a visitor should consider is to charter a plane. There are two airstrips that can be used as a means of arriving at Malka Mari National Park. The first airstrip is located at Bannissa while the second one is a small airstrip that is situated in the park.

Hopes of reopening institutions of high learning earlier

Colleges may open before primary and secondary schools
Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) institutions and universities stand a higher chance of reopening in shifts as opposed to primary and secondary schools.

This is according to Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha, who cited infrastructural challenges and congestion as a major hurdle in the reopening of primary and secondary schools.

Speaking in Kisumu on Friday, the CS said TVET colleges and universities have the capacity to achieve social distancing in efforts to contain the spread of Covid-19 among learners.

“The TVET institutions, as we have looked at them, have a much better chance in terms of getting social distancing. Like universities, they offer various courses and can adjust their programmes and open in shifts much more easily than the primary and secondary schools,” Prof Magoha said when he met TVET principals from the Western region.

He added that mask production was no longer a headache as there was assurance from TVET Principal Secretary Julius Juan that the institutions can make their own.

“The unfortunate thing is Covid-19 is still increasing… But government is going to work as if we are going to open on September 1,” Prof Magoha said.
