Kenya reported highest number of new cases.

recorded 247 more new positive cases, shooting its total positive cases to 7180.

Health CAS Dr Rashid Aman, announced that 242 were Kenyan and the rest were foreigners.

The youngest of the new cases is aged one year old, while the oldest is 100 years.

He further announced that 39 more patients had fully recovered and released from hospitals raising the number of recovery to 2148 while to more succumbed to the virus increasing the death toll to 154.

Hotspot counties

Nairobi been the county with the highest number of positive case recorded 153 on Friday, follow by Mombasa with 35, kajiado 15 , kiambu and Busia 12 each, uasin Gishu , machakosi and Carissa recorded 4 each, Murang’a , Nakuru and Siaya 2 each while Lamu and Nyamira 1 each.

Critical conditions

Dr Patrick Amoth – the acting health director general reported that 29 patients were in intensive care unit, 14 in public hospitals, 15 in private facilities and 1 under observation.

Kenya reported its first case on march 13th 2020 a week after virus outbreak in Huwan, China.

Government lead by his Excellency Uhuru Kenyatta took early containment measures to prevent the spread of the deadly virus , learning institutions were shut down and dust to dawn curfew was imposed to prevent further spread of the virus.

The CAS urged Kenyan to observe containment measures to flattened the curve.

“Let us all take personal responsibility by observing social distance, washing our hands with soap and stay at home.” Dr Aman said.

Dr Amoth also noted that Kenya’s fatality rate was 2.29 per cent compared to the global average of 6.7 per cent.

According to coronavirus case tracker Worldometer, the disease had infected at least 11,023,455 people and killed 524,881 globally by July 3.

The number of recoveries was 6,178,566 and of active cases 4,320,008.
